Acorn Invasion!

The past few days, the oak trees in our yard have really started dropping acorns. We hear them hitting the roof and the sky lights but most of all I have noticed how bumpy the side walk is becoming as I crunch, crunch, crunch them when walking to the mailbox or the car. Hunter has even braved them without shoes and goes "Ow, Ow!". It is a lovely time of year for me. I love the way Autumn feels and smells. But this year it seems like those oak trees have produced more acorns than they did last year. So I went out back and did a quick survey because I had nothing better to do than count trees. I counted at least 52 plus oak trees in the immediate area and 62 plus trees in the front yard! That is not even counting all the trees beyond the fenced off area that is still on the property or the ones in the creek! The trees are in various states. Most of them are good size, some are still small and a few are dead (I didn't count those!) We do also have one half dead cedar tree, one magnolia tree and one mimosa in not very good shape. SO MY POINT IS... THAT IS A WHOLE LOT OF ACORNS AND LEAVES BEING DROPPED!

I am not even going to think about sweeping off the driveway until they quit. I found out last year real quick that I was losing ground. I would sweep and it would look good. Then more acorns and leaves would drop! I don't worry about the ones in the yard. Eventually they decompose!
